Dishonest and annoying, whoever they are...

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
They gave my wife a free bag of septic cleaner but now months later they are asking for 220 dollars. They can't be serious. So unprofessional and the lady that answered had a slurred speech until she put someone else on who couldn't answer my questions about the notices I keep getting. Finally he turned the phone back over to some other lady and she flat out told me nothing is free. Totally conflicts with what they originally offered. It's likely they prey upon disabled veterans like myself as well as the elderly. I tried calling them back after a heated exchange but all I get is a message about a free cruise to Cancun. Shady as *** if you ask me.

These people don't give up

I have used Septic Helper, which I understand was bought by Septic Maxx. With Septic Helper I called them to order more product when I needed it. Septic Maxx calls ever after I have asked to be removed from their call list. The calls go away for two or three months and start all over again. My question is, if Septic Maxx is a legitimate company, why doesn't their name appear on the caller ID when they make a sales call? The number that appears is 609-772-****, Allentown NJ. These idiots call as early as 8am and as late as 9:30pm. I have nomorobo, so all I get is one ring, but it still will wake you from a dead sleep. Every few months, Septic Maxx markets a "new improved" product. As far as I can tell, it's just revenue churning. The same product in a new package. Their calls border on harassment. I am honestly sorry that I ever did business with this company. I have asked to be removed from their call list no less than twelve times over the past five or six years.

It's a scam. They mistakenly sent us a letter thinking we were elderly folks who wouldn't take notice of their tactics. They use harassing letters with threatening lines written in ALL CAPS indicating they are screaming at their victims. Fighting words!

If Septic Maxx ain't careful every single one of their reps will be out of a job and in prison or hefty fines to pay including those sending the nasty threatening letters. I hope the state attorney makes it happen soon. Septic Maxx deceives the elderly as well as the disabled.

Many calls in a matter of minutes

I have their number forwarded to the FTC but i got tired of seeing them on my called id so i called, brockton,ma,talked to a Bill, told him put me on the dnc list, and informed him all his calls were forwarded to the FTC he said,,thats fine,,wow. This number (508) 408-**** has showed up as many as 12 times in a day on my caller id.Yes,even though it is forwarded i can still see who called me and phone rings once as i use comcast voice through the internet,i can check through the website to see who calls.I think forwarding them to the FTC is a better idea than just blocking.WE will see.

Septic maxx

Rude, harressing, threating, by phone, going to ruin my credit if I don't pay for the product which I didn't want, told them that , this started right after my husband died 10 years ago. The keep caling me that I need more.

now they are still calling me, telling me I had 30 days to return the product. I wasn't even home when it came and there is nothing in writing that states that unless its inside the package which I didn't open. Then the postoffice will no send it back and according to UPS it will cost over $25 which I don't have. I am on SS and on a very limited budget.

I am 76 years old have trouble hearing and some times can't catch everything that they say. I even told them that to no avail. I have talked to people in Vermont and they say that Septic Maxx doesn't really work anyway.

I told them I didn't want any more of their product which is sitting in my bathroom on the shelf. I put a stop payment on my checking account so they can't get any money out of it.

Preying on the Elderly

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I found out that my mother was continuing to received phone solicitations to order product from Septic Maxx. (She moved into a retirement home several years ago and so doesn't need any more septic product). I was made aware of this and promptly called Septic Maxx so I could return the product and get her a refund. I was told that since it was over 90 days, it would not happen. Since the product had yet to be opened, I asked to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor said the same thing. I explained that we needed to protect our elderly as she has trouble saying 'No' when some one pushes her. I am told there is a recording of the conversation so I would like to hear it to verify that she was not "hard sold" to purchase a product she obviously doesn't need. But I can't as no one will return my emails nor call me back. I was told the owner of the company would be contacted and told of my issue with Septic Maxx lack of refunding. The owner has yet to contact me.

Beware of this company

beware of this co. they called me i agreed to try there product.

i never got it. it was delivered but not to me apparently i contacted UPS,where they shipped it from and they said the sender had to file a claim, UPS left it with USPS for home delivery scanned it and left it some wheres at 11:55 am my mail does not get to me untill about 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm my rural route mail carrier leaves the p.o at 11:30 am so i called USPS and they told me the sender had to make a claim threw UPS also due to the type of shipping the sender paid for the cheaper shipping is why the P.O had to deliver it. they refuse to make a claim and wont me to pay for something I have never gotten of 208.00 and are rude nasty non professional in there job and they know more then the companies they use to ship there products. i even went as far to provide them with the phone # to each and they made funny noises and other people got on the phone calling me a liar and said they were not making a claim i was going to pay it, I will not pay for anything i have not gotten.

when they can make a claim and there employees complain that is to much work for them to do . so if you use them you have been warned of what happened to me. with them.

and all they have to do is make a claim and they will be paid for the lost / misplaced or misdelivered package how ever they choose to look at it. there is no photo as i got anything from them but wanting money

My septic plumber sold me Septic Maxx. I may be crazy but my yard dosnt stink anymore! I flush it down one toilet and in a month this happened. I can't believe it! The only problem I have now is I may need to buy it for all my properties. I've never have been excited about a septic tank before. Has any one else used Septic Maxx? It also says on the bucket money goes to charity when you buy it. Go get them Septic Maxx I'm now your biggest fan ! Oh no hey say I have to type 100 words? I have nothing else to say. But guess I'll need to type a little more so I can post this historical information ! Hmm. Getting tired here maybe it should be 50 words required instead of 100. Maybe I should complain about this complaint bord.

Updated by user Apr 14, 2015

After posting on the Better Business Bureau the company responded with a considerable effort to stand behind their product and apologized for the misunderstanding with their 6 month no obligation guarantee. They have resolved the issue and have issued an apology for any clarification errors. I am impressed that they would go through the effort and is shows that they stand behind their product, even if I am not allowed to use it in the area I live.

Original review Mar 24, 2015
Ordered product over phone under their 6 month no obligation product offering. Found out 45 days after ordering product that this additive is not approved in our county. I found out that this is true in several states and jurisdictions. Here are links to two state government websites - one of which is from the state the company operates in: doh.wa.gov/Portals/1/Documents/Pubs/337-025.pdf or google "list of approved on-site sewage system additives" Septic Maxx is not listed anywhere on this list. floridahealth.gov/environmental-health/onsite-sewage/products/additives/index.html I tried to ask for an out under the 6 month no obligation offer and was flatly refused and told that i only had a 30 day window to return the product. I was told that there was no six month obligation unless i paid upfront - several websites state that consumers paid up front and have not received their money back. I am not a competitor - but as it appears a victim of a bait and switch tactic to bilk me out of $200. At the same time the person I spoke to about using the 6 month no obligation inferred that I am a liar and that they would not accept any return. The bottom line - this company neither stands behind its product nor does it stand behind its commitments. John

We were scammed and are now seeking a chargeback from our credit card company

RE: Fraudulent/Scam Purchase/Charge To Credit Card #XXXXXXXXXXXX0286 on or about April 30, 2014 with respect to SepticMAXX

To Whom It May Concern:

After my husband, Kenneth W. Treuter’s telecom discussion earlier today with June he did as she instructed and contacted Septic MAXX stating that he stands by his conclusion that the aforesaid company and its sales department procured a sale and a charge to my credit card on said date by misleading, fraudulent/misrepresented statements made to him with respect to purchasing both a “septic protection” and “homeowner protection” plan which would protect us from septic system charges and repair or replacement of home appliances, wiring, plumbing etc. At said time he requested and was assured that he would receive a “policy”/written contract detailing the protections and exclusions covered in the company’s protection plans/insurance policies. To date we have never received such written contracts and even though he requested the same three additional times the company has never provided anything but four glossy pamphlets titled SEPTIC MAXX “Maximum Security For Septic Systems” with a cover letter electronically singed by James Jackson, Customer Service. At no time has the company or its staff provided any document with respect to the “homeowner’s plan,” i.e. American MAXX. I believe that if they had we would have immediately, upon examining the contract and thoroughly reading it, cancelled the sale and demanded a refund. It occurs to us that the company realized such and purposely never tendered a copy of the so-called homeowner’s protection plan.

Yesterday, July 2, 2014, when we attempted to use the “homeowner’s protection plan” (American MAXX) to address the issue of our hot water heater having gone out our claim was flatly denied by Septic MAXX’s/American MAXX’s supposed “administrator” (Universal Administrator). When my husband called Septic MAXX so as to make a strong exception to said denial, he, through a lengthy discussion with an individual identified as Melissa clearly stated his complaint about the matter it obvious to him that the company had defrauded him and outright lied to him at the time of the sale with respect to the pointed assurances given to him by one James Jackson. My husband and I are now, more than at any previous time, thoroughly convinced that the company and its “plans” are indeed scams and that their sales staff knowingly, wilfully, and purposely used fraudulent statements about the so-called “plans” to oversell the “plans” and their, for all practical purposes, no-existent benefits and coverage in order to procure a sale.

After my husband called Septic MAXX today Melissa answered the phone and my husband requested to speak to James Jackson and after an long wait when put on hold he was finally connected to an individual identifying himself as Adam who stated that he would easily resolve our complaint by issuing a pro-rata refund. Further, Adam stated that he would figure the amount of the refund and email my husband wherein such would be stated and that the company would then to issue the refund amount back to our credit card within three (3) to five (5) business days. My husband was further assured that the promised email would be sent by the end of the day (which should have been by 4:00 P.M., Texas central daylight time). And when it became obvious that the email was not going to be sent, my husband then once again called the company and was connected to an individual who at first identified himself as “Jack” and then as “John”. That individual stated that he was aware of my husband’s previous conversation with Adam and that as soon as the company’s computer was fixed (repaired?) my husband would receive the promised email. However, the email was never sent or received.

The bottom line is this: we do not want to hear from and/or deal with anymore of Septic MAXX's staff with their misrepresentations, outright lies, and fraudulent activities. We want a full refund and a CHARGEBACK made against Septic MAXX so the full amount of the April 30, 2014 charge is cancelled and removed from our Merrick Bank Visa Account balance.

We are also advising Ms. Pam Bondi, Florida’s current Attorney General, through her office’s consumer protection division (Office of the Attorney General, PL-01 The Capitol Tallahassee, Florida 32399-**** - Telephone: (850) 414-****) and request that the Attorney General’s office use its good office and enforcement powers to address our complaint and serious concerns for the protection of other potential victims. We, in no uncertain terms, have a good faith belief and therefore do believe that Septic MAXX (at the least in our particular dealing with them) has proven itself to be a scam and a fraudulent company and we are requesting that it be thoroughly investigated and upon a finding of evidence to the same that a formal suit be filed against them through the proper judicial court system used by the Florida Attorney General’s office to protect consumers against such scams and fraudulent methods as those to which we have been subjected by Septic MAXX, American MAXX, James Jackson, Melissa, Adam, the company’s so-called claims Administrator company (which by all evidence available is not an independent company but simply a part and parcel part of Septic MAXX’s scam and defrauding company practices). Hopefully the company and its main players will find themselves indicted and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

We shall look forward to your kind and courteous assistance in having the April 30, 2014 charge fully cancelled and the expended funds refunded to our Merrick Bank Credit Card Account.

We will continue to fully cooperate with your company through its agent(s), appeal to any and all state and federal consumer protection agencies and do all that is within our power to see that Septic MAXX is brought to justice and either shut down, prevented from calling on people such as we or ordered to cease and desist from scamming, intentionally lying to, and purposefully misrepresenting their baseless scripted selling points those from whom they seek to obtain funds for a worthless product/service, defrauding the public and carrying on their unlawful business practices.

Yours truly,

Maria B. Treuter

I have had a big problem I was charged on 12/3/16 46.92

12/5/16 charged again 75.00

Ask for a credit on 12/5/16

Finally got credited on 12/8/16

Then 12/19)16 I was again charged 46.93

Now these two charges have cost me over draft fee. And a late fee on my car payment because I had unauthorized charges on my card and didn't have full payment.

Never had a problem with them. Just had a 1200 claim paid as easy as 1-2-3

Septic Maxx is a sales department that sells a third party protection plan.

They are separate companies.

I would suggest you call the owner of Septic Maxx. He was very good to us when we had a issue with there underwriter.

Septic MAXX Doesn't Work!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been using Septic MAXX for a little over a month now and I still have the same wet spots in my yard as when I first started using their product. They promised that I would see results within 30 days and if not I could return the product for a full refund. I called within the 30 day time period and was told I couldn't return the product since I had purchased on a C.C. What a Sham!!!!!!!! I feel like I have been taken advantage of here by some company down in F.L. that won't do anything to help me after I paid $200 for their septic product. Is anyone else familiar with Septic MAXX???????? Please let me know if you have any ideas about what can be done!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks. Kathryn B.
